Milan – Orphan Gopikishan lives a poor lifestyle on the banks of the Holy River Ganga, makes a living ferrying passengers on his rickety boat and is assisted by Gauri, another orphan, who hopes to marry him someday. But Gopikishan has given his heart to wealthy Radha, who lives with her dad and step-mother, he takes a red rose everyday to her, teaches her to sing and takes some lessons in English. He excels in his lessons and Radha gets an award. Then Radha’s uncle, Rajendra, arranges her marriage with wealthy Prince Ram V. Rai and Radha reluctantly consents. A heartbroken Gopikishan conceals his true feelings, sings during her marriage ceremony and bids her goodbye. He looks forward to the Lakshmi Pooja celebrations when Radha will be visiting her family little knowing that the Radha who will be returning will not be the same anymore and he will soon be confronted by Rajendra, Gauri and angry villagers who will eventually find out his true feelings for her.
Khandan – After the passing of Ramswaroop Lal, his two sons, Jeevandas and Shankar take over the control of their farmland. Jeevandas marries Bhagvanti and has no children, while Shankar marries Parvati and has two sons, Govind and Shyam. Due to an accident with an electric pole, Govind’s right side gets paralyzed. Years later, Shyam has gone for further studies to the big city, while the only relatives of Bhagvanti, Navrangi Lal and his sister, Neelima, have moved in with the Lal family. When Shyam returns, he falls in love with Neelima and then begin a series of misunderstandings and disagreements which result in the house being divided in two with Jeevandas, Bhagvanti, Shyam, Navrangi and Neelima on one side and Govind, his wife, Radha, Shankar and Parvati on the other. Navrangi borrows money from Bhagvanti and invests it in a Carnival, however, most of his earnings are stolen by two dancers, Jati and Sati. He then borrows more money, this time from Shyam and purchases an elephant. Govind and Radha rejoice when they give birth to normal son, Navjeevandas Lal. Weeks later, Navrangi plans a novel move with his carnival, that is to have the elephant throw a child from it’s trunk and the child he plans to use is none other than Govind’s son. Watch what impact this has on the entire family when they find out that Navjeevandas has been abducted.
Sone Ki Chidiya – After the passing of her parents, Lakshmi goes to live with her relatives, who after some time, compel her to re-locate with Danpat Rai and his family, consisting of his wife, a son, Raghunath and his wife and three children and a second unmarried alcoholic son, Balram. Raghunath and his wife leave the household in protest of her arrival and Balram attempts to sell her to a goon but she manages to escape and rather dramatically gets hired as singer or actress in a theater. From thence there is no looking back and she soon becomes a popular movie star, acting with famous actors such as Dev Anand and Ashok Kumar. Balram and others improve their respective lifestyles and exploit her to no end, forcing her to work hard – without any break. When she falls in love with a Journalist, Amar, they caution her that he is only after her money, but she disregards their advice and wants her share of the wealth that has been accumulated so that she can move out and live with Amar, his mother and four sisters. She will soon be faced with harsh reality when she comes to know that she is penniless and it is Balram who, through a signed contract, controls her life. But nothing will prepare for the shock when she will find the real reason why Amar was attracted to her and it is then she will head toward a nervous breakdown – that will bring drastic change to her already stressful lifestyle.
Meherban – After arguing with her father over the possibility of a marriage to Rajesh, spoiled rich girl Meenakshi runs away from home. She finds herself in hot water when a thief called Billoo swipes her bag and her father sends the police after her. However, Ashim Kumar comes to her rescue. Deciding to travel together, Meenakshi and Ashim begin to fall in love, while the ever-persistent Billoo continues to trail them. To put their love to the test, the pair decide to temporarily separate, but misunderstandings, false accusations and a horrific sudden tragedy threaten to tear them apart forever.
